Art therapy is a form of psychotherapy that uses art media as its primary mode of expression and communication.
It is not a recreational activity or an art lesson, although the sessions can be enjoyable. Previous experience or expertise in art is not required.
Difficult issues can be addressed in a safe way that may aide gaining a new perspective. The group provides a relaxed atmosphere for family carers to have some me time, reflect on their experiences, gain confidence, receive emotional support and connect with others.
Carers MK have been offering free group art therapy sessions facilitated by Theresa Erhard (HCPC Registered Art Therapist) for the past three years.
