Young Carers In Schools

Young carers often report on how they experience educational difficulties. This can include significant absence from school, not feeling supported in balancing studying with their caring role, not having someone to talk to at school about being a young carer, an impact on friendships and overall lower educational attainment.

Carers MK is committed to working in partnership with schools to support young carers across Milton Keynes.

Ofsted have highlighted the needs of young carers as high priority and have looked favourably upon schools who work alongside charities and agencies to benefit pupils within schools.

Our team are able to deliver powerful awareness assemblies to schools to help young carers and staff identify and support young carers within their school setting.

We currently work with a number of secondary schools across Milton Keynes and are able to see registered young carers at school on a termly basis in a ‘drop-in’ style session, if they wish to do so.

If you are interested in Carers MK running drop-in sessions in your school, please get in touch with us on 0300 777 2722 or email.
