Support groups are designed as a local support network for carers and are all facilitated by Carers MK Support Workers who are available to discuss your caring role, either within the groups or on a one-to-one basis. Support is provided by meeting together and sharing experiences, information and offering peer support to one another (as well as a cup of tea, of course!).
Carers have reported that the group gives them an opportunity for a much needed ‘break’ from their caring role.
Carers are able to attend groups as and when is convenient to themselves and are welcome to drop in as often or as little as suits the individual as we understand that the caring role can at times be unpredictable and demanding. The groups are free to attend and you do not need to book your place, simply turn up when you can.
Some of our support groups are geographical (such as Newport Pagnell) and are relevant for all carers either living locally or in other parts of Milton Keynes. Other support groups are specific to the health condition of the person being cared for (such as MS or Parkinson’s).
Due to current circumstances, we are now running support groups online via Zoom. Click here to see the Support Groups via Zoom Diary for January – March 2021. If you would like to attend any of these virtual support groups, please contact us on 01908 231703 or firstname.lastname@example.org
