Counselling

Carers MK offers a free and confidential counselling service to all carers over the age of 18 who are registered with us.

The counselling is provided by either a qualified counsellor or a student placement counsellor who is working towards qualification.

All carers accessing counselling will initially be offered six sessions which last for one hour each and are on a weekly basis. The sessions take place at the Carers MK offices in Central Milton Keynes. Various time slots are available. As the sessions progress, the carer and counsellor will discuss whether or not further sessions are required and, if so, these can be provided.

Counselling through Carers MK cannot be used in conjunction with any other talking therapies. If a carer is already receiving a talking therapy elsewhere then we would need to wait for this to finish before considering them for our counselling service.

Any carers who are interested in accessing counselling will first need to discuss their situation with one of our Support Workers to make sure that counselling is suitable for them. We also need to know if the carer is taking any medication.

For further information please contact Carers MK.

Due to a significant increase in demand for our counselling service, we have made the difficult decision to temporarily close our counselling waiting list. Please check back in on this page for future updates.
